Eurocopter SA318C Alouette II Astazou, Haida Helicopter - Guillam, MB - 11-1970 - Comments of the Jim Broadbent : "Location is Gillam, Manitoba working for Barrenger Surveys. Towing a "bird" but not sure what we were looking for. Pilot is unknown. November 1970. Cold enough to freeze the hydraulic system. There was moisture in the hydraulic fluid. Had to remove the complete system and bring all the parts into the hotel room to thaw out and remove the contaminated fluid. Miserable job because of the cold weather. Lots of work looking after the Alouette II in the winter. Greasing, oiling, lubricating, oil leaks etc. The landing gear hydraulic struts would freeze in the winter which would cause the helicopter to get into ground resonance."

CF-BMU Eurocopter SA318C Alouette II Astazou MSN 2163, Haida Helicopters - Canada - 1971 - Comments of Jim Broadbent : "Camp site is unknown. Pilot was most likely John Laurie. Working on the James Bay project in 1971."

Eurocopter SA318C Alouette II Astazou, Haida Helicopters - Ruper River Camp - 07-1971 - Comments of Jim Broadbent : "Rupert River camp on the James Bay project. Most likely John Laurie was the pilot. The same red plywood box is on the left hand side of the skid gear. Hauling drinking water for the camp. 4 Alouette II's were working out of this camp in July 1971."

Commentaire de Pierre Lejeune du 1er mai 2017 :

Hello. I worked in this camp on the Rupert river during the summer of 1971. I am looking for some information on an Haida helicopters pilot I worked with while I was there. I have a business card from John Laurie (Representative) with "Jim Broadbent" handwritten on it. Could someone contact me about this? Thanks!!!

Pilot is unknown. 3 Alouette II's working out of this camp in the fall of 1971? Slinging jet fuel for the helicopters. All the camps were working on the road survey from Mattagami to LG 2 on the La Grande River."
